About the Area
Nestled in the heart of Gorski kotar, Lynx Valley is surrounded by one of Croatia’s most untouched and captivating landscapes. Often called the country’s “green lungs,” this mountainous region is known for its dense forests, fresh alpine air, and peaceful atmosphere—far from the crowds of the coast.

Cottage location
Lynx Valley is located just before the village of Crni Lug, only 10 kilometers from Delnice, at an altitude of around 700 meters.
You can easily reach the property via the highway to Delnice, followed by a scenic drive along the state road toward Crni Lug and Risnjak National Park. If coming from the big cities: we are approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Zagreb, and around 45 minutes from Rijeka.

NP Risnjak
Just moments away lies Risnjak National Park, a protected wilderness where nature remains wild and unspoiled. Named after the elusive lynx (“ris” = lynx) that inhabits these forests, the park offers a network of scenic hiking trails, panoramic viewpoints, as well as very rich biodiversity.

Closest city
Delnice is the region’s main town. It offers a refreshing escape from the heat of the coast, with cooler temperatures and a slower pace of life. Despite its small size, Delnice provides all essential amenities—from supermarkets (Lidl, Konzum) and cafés to a hospital and local services. In winter, the town comes alive with snow activities like sledding and ice skating. In warmer months, it’s a perfect starting point for hiking, cycling, and exploring the surrounding nature.

Local gastronomy
The gastronomy of Gorski Kotar honours nature, seasonality, and tradition. Local specialties include forest mushrooms, homemade sausages, and rich stews, alongside freshwater fish. Additionally, you can find traditional desserts and you absolutely must try the blueberry strudel, usually made with berries gathered in the surrounding forests.
